Galentine’s Day: The Importance of Friendship

“What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year,” expresses the legendary Leslie Knope from the hit TV show, Parks and Recreation.

In a season 2 episode, Leslie creates Galentine’s Day to celebrate all the women that are in her life. Since airing the episode, women around the world are inventing their own version of the unofficial holiday. Galentine’s day falls on February 13, Valentine’s Day-Eve, where women come together to honor and cherish the platonic relationships among girlfriends. While the episode celebrates Galentine’s Day with brunch and mimosas, women are hosting events ranging from spa days to movie marathons, girls’ trips, wine nights, among various others.

The friendships among women are very powerful. Every day we choose our friends to stay in our lives, to love and care for them, through all the good and hard times, and that is nothing short of beautiful. No relationship is the same, each one bringing their own special qualities and joyous memories. With such unprecedented times, it’s important to have friends that you can talk to and rely on.
