The way you present your company’s brand on social media can be a significant deciding factor for whether or not a person will reach out to you for your services. Set realistic goals

The first question when starting your brand’s social media appearance is what you want to get out of the platform. Is it growing your brand’s awareness? Driving traffic to your website? Promote your work and reach millions of likes? Knowing the answer to that question will help you understand what networks to tackle and take on. Here are some examples of realistic goals:

  • Generate leads and sales: Whether online or through your social profiles, followers don’t make purchases on chance. Some things to consider: are you about alerting customers about new products and promos? Are you integrating your product catalog into your social profiles?
  • Growing your brand’s awareness: Means getting your name out to the community. When you’re doing this, you want to focus on not constantly posting promotion messages; people want to know what your company’s values are as well as what you’re selling. For example, if an individual comes across your Instagram and you posted something about supporting pride month and say that individual is a part of the LGBTQ community, you’ve made a connection before they even know what you are selling. 
  • Driving traffic to your site: Simple as it is, you want people to visit your website. Social media platforms are, for the most part, short, sweet, and down-to-the-point posts if you want people to go to your website to get the whole experience of buying/working with you and your team

Take time to know your target audience.

Taking the time to know and understand your audience is an excellent way you can accomplish your goals. Knowing this will help you when following accounts, creating hashtags, or even the type of things you promote. Also, remember that different platforms attract different audiences.   • Facebook and YouTube are both excellent places for ads due in part to their high-earning user bases.
  • The top social networks among Millennials and Gen Z are Instagram and YouTube, signaling the strength of bold, eye-popping content that oozes with personality.
  • Women vastly outnumber men on Pinterest, which is noted to boast the highest average order value for social shoppers.
  • LinkedIn’s user base is well-educated, making it a hub for in-depth, industry-specific content that might be more niche than what you see on Facebook or Twitter.

Creating engaging content 

Let’s agree, this one is the reason you’ve made it this far in the blog. Your brand’s social media hinges on content. Based on the knowledge of your audience, your goals, and what platform(s) you are going to work with, you have an idea of what content you are going to push out there. Some things to consider when creating that first week of content:

  • Stick to content themes: If you have a color pallet for your website or logo, you’ve already created a piece. Stick to those colors or even different shades of those colors to keep your social media recognizable on the vast, never-ending consumer’s news feed.
  • Plan, Plan, Plan: Planning out your week, month, or even year of content you know you are going to post will help you stay organized and on top of the game. Examples would be Christmas, the 4th of July, and Halloween. Have fun with these holidays, too; you could create a contest, give-a-way, or customized service special.
