Over the past decade, many social media platforms have come into popularity.  The most successful platforms include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.  The oldest of these platforms is YouTube, dating back to 2005. Although YouTube is the most senior of these mediums, its influence should not be underestimated.  It has been found by Brightcove that 50 percent of social video views take place on YouTube. Facebook lags behind at 36 percent, and the remaining 14 percent is split between Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram.

These statistics demonstrate that YouTube is an essential resource in successful video production marketing efforts.  YouTube maximizes content exposure and aids in the procurement of audience preferences. Successful channels post short videos, create creative thumbnails and titles, optimize their search engine results, engage their audiences through comments and frequently ask individuals to subscribe.  In short, no video marketing campaign is truly complete without an active YouTube channel.
